Rep Power: 558881 | | | Non-exercise Activity Thermogenesis If you've got some time and care, this is a very interesting review: Themogenesis and Weight Gain
I posted it in another thread where someone was commenting about the people who tend to break the law of thermodynamics so much so that calories don't really matter all that much.
This explains a lot about those who seem to be so resistant to weight gain in the face of what seems to be a caloric surplus.
Not for those with ADD.

Rep Power: 108472 | | I don't have sound on this computer.
Was the point that they fidget more? (I picked up that the reason people don't lose as much as the math would suggest when they cut calories is that they fidget less. And I can attest to that being subjectively the case for me. I'd much rather sit and do nothing - or better, lie down and do nothing - if my calories for the day are low, even if I don't feel hungry.)

Rep Power: 558881 | | | Ya, it's worth a listen to it if you ever have the time though.
It's a very interesting review, especially since I posted this in response to your link in that other thread.
NEAT is really the energy expended in non-planned activity, which includes fidgeting. |

Rep Power: 558881 | | What, nobody has a spare hour or so to watch this? What's wrong with you people!?
Figured as much, but for all the talk we have about calories and research, this is a pretty cool commentary and slide show for those interested. |

I'm a lifelong fidgeter -I got in trouble in school constantly for not being able to sit still and i get teased during meetings now becase I can't sit still - fidgeting hasn't helped me any unfortunately..

Honestly, I'm doing my show off this computer right now and don't want to broadcast Thermogenesis over the readio waves to 50,000 listeners!

Mal...99.3FM KPSM in Brownwood, TX. Unfortunately we have had to disable our Internet broadcast due to changes in legality. Hopefully we will be back up on the 'net soon.
